2025 Gold Cup, Matchday 2: Match thread and discussion

The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup hits matchday 2, and on a day that the USMNT begins their Gold Cup journey, two other matches will serve as the night cap on this Father’s Day. Haiti will take on Saudi Arabia, after which Costa Rica will face Suriname.

Haiti hopes to get off to a great start, and they want to introduce Saudi Arabia to Concacaf ball by making a statement. They might be a bit outmatched, but they will make up for it by playing with tenacity to give the Saudis a tough fight. Saudi Arabia makes their debut as a guest in the Gold Cup, and they’re here to win. They hope to come out of the blocks fast and outlast Haiti to wrap up Group D play for the day.

In the second match, Costa Rica will be looking to once again show they’re a contender for the title in Group A. They go up against Suriname who are looking to find their way back towards the upper half of the region. Suriname can help that progress with an upset of the Ticos.
