Woman gets $1 a month in maintenance as judge dismisses spousal support appeal; Good samaritans recall fatal Braddell Road crash: Singapore live news
A 36-year-old man died after he was taken to hospital from the scene of a serious accident in Braddell Road near Raffles Institution on 27 May.
Nur Zanna and her colleague Addy Izwan were travelling to Jurong when they spotted a gas cylinder flying through the air along Braddell Road. Then, the pair saw smoke and the chaotic aftermath of a violent accident involving two lorries. The smell of gas lingered in the air.
“We immediately jumped into action, and started picking up the canisters and transferring them to a grass patch because we were afraid [the gas from them] might come into contact with the vehicles and cause an explosion or fire,” Addy told the Straits Times.
Zanna and Addy teamed up with other brave good samaritans to move the gas cylinders before they checked on the drivers. “He was waving his hands and saying, ‘Help, help’, very weakly. There was so much blood on his face and clothes,” Addy was quoted as saying.
Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived shortly to take charge of the situation.
Zanna and Addy found out later that one of the drivers in the accident had died in hospital. “After we read the news, I just kept thinking about how I saw him last, which was him asking for help so weakly. What happened was very sad,” Addy said.
