Dieux Unveils Online Resource to Simplify SPF Filters for Everyone

Dieux’s cofounders, Charlotte Palermino and Joyce de Lemos, are introducing a virtual tool called Sun-Screener to address SPF misinformation. This tool allows users to verify the efficacy of SPF products by analyzing the ingredient list, offering details on active UV filters and their approval status in various regions.

The initiative responds to the booming sun care market, influenced by trends from Korean and Australian SPF brands and misinformation spread via platforms like TikTok. The goal is to provide unbiased SPF education, counteracting misconceptions such as homemade SPF recipes and the simplistic evaluations of ingredient safety by apps like Yuka.

Sun-Screener was developed with cosmetic chemists Rebecca Perry and Ava Perkins, and it details over 35 UV filters. It aims to educate users without fostering fear, promoting a clear understanding of the benefits of sunscreen. Future updates may include features for users to advocate for FDA action on newer SPF filters, which are currently available internationally.
