DermaRite Industries LLC voluntarily recalled several personal care products due to potential contamination with Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc), posing serious infection risks, especially for immunocompromised individuals.
Initial and Expanded Recall:
- The initial recall was announced by the FDA on Aug. 9.
- On Aug. 27, DermaRite expanded the list to include more products, all expiring on or before August 2027, out of caution.
Health Risks:
Bcc contamination can result in severe infections, with potential for local infections in healthy individuals and life-threatening sepsis in the immunocompromised.
