Experts Share 4 Skin Care Tips for Wudu and Ramadan

Observing Ramadan can bring some changes to your skin due to changes in diet, hydration, and routine, especially considering the regular practice of Wudu. Here are some skincare tips to help maintain skin health during this period:

  1. Stay Hydrated:

    • During non-fasting hours, make a conscious effort to drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated. Consume foods with high water content, such as cucumbers, watermelon, and yogurt.
    • Incorporate healthy fats like avocado and nuts to help slow water loss from the body.
  2. Maintain Skin Hydration:

    • Utilize products with humectants like hyaluronic acid, occlusives like petrolatum, and barrier-strengthening ceramides to retain moisture.
    • Avoid drying ingredients such as alcohols and exfoliants during fasting hours.
    • Consider using facial masks, mists, or a hydrating moisturizer containing ingredients like ceramides and glycerin to keep your skin moisturized.
  3. Lip Care:

    • Apply hyaluronic acid to your lips, followed by a layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly before bed to keep them hydrated and soft.
  4. Wash with Lukewarm Water & Dry Gently:

    • Use lukewarm water instead of hot water to avoid stripping your skin of essential oils. Hot water can lead to dryness by removing sebum that helps lock moisture in the skin.
    • Gently pat your skin dry rather than rubbing it, which can be abrasive.
  5. Reapply Essentials:
    • After performing Wudu, focus on reapplying only essential skincare products rather than the full routine to maintain skin balance.

These adjustments can help manage skin changes during Ramadan, ensuring your skin stays healthy and balanced throughout the month.
