La Mer and Estée Lauder Research on MPF-Serum Published in JCAD
MELVILLE, NY – February 19, 2025 – A collaborative study by La Mer and The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has been published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology (JCAD), highlighting the efficacy of La Mer’s Macrocystis pyrifera ferment (MPF-Serum) in improving skin barrier strength and recovery after dermatological procedures. Conducted by Dr. Uma Santhanam, Dr. Claude Saliou from ELC, and Dr. Jaime Emmetsberger from La Mer, the research involved clinical trials with women aged 31 to 65. The MPF-Serum increased moisturization and barrier integrity significantly over 8 weeks and showed superior recovery outcomes post-procedure than standard moisturizers. It suggests that MPF-Serum could serve as a pre-procedure preparation and an alternative to traditional ointments during recovery.
ELC is committed to advancing science with multidisciplinary expertise. With 75 years of formulation authority, the company has a strong presence in the scientific community, emphasizing gender equality with R&D led by women scientists globally.
