Concerns Raised Over Popular ‘Glass Skin’ Beauty Tool After Reports of ‘Facial Paralysis’: ‘Avoiding Permanent Damage’

Several TikTok users have raised alarms about potential health risks associated with the Medicube Booster Pro, a popular skincare device that claims to enhance skin appearance using LED, microcurrent, and sonic vibration technologies. Priced at $480, the device has been linked by some users to severe side effects such as temporary nerve damage and inflammation.

A licensed esthetician, using the TikTok handle @critically.caucasian, shared her experience of developing nerve inflammation and facial symptoms after using the device, which led her to seek emergency medical treatment. She described symptoms like eyelid drooping, pupil dilation, and facial pressure and returned the product, prioritizing her health over its usage. Another user, Sav Riley, reported experiencing migraines soon after using the device, and Amina claimed to have developed Bell’s Palsy shortly after incorporating it into her skincare routine. However, Amina did not directly blame the device for this condition, which involves temporary facial paralysis.

Dr. Andrea Suarez, a dermatologist active on TikTok as Dr. Dray, acknowledged that while linking the device directly to facial paralysis would be challenging, the possibility of it being a contributing factor cannot be ruled out.

In response, Medicube has refuted these allegations, stating that their device does not cause Bell’s Palsy or nerve damage. They emphasized that Bell’s Palsy is usually triggered by viral agents and noted that the electrical output of their device is too low to cause such effects. The company also released a statement urging consumers to seek information from reliable sources and assured their commitment to product safety and efficacy.

The discussion raises broader concerns about the safety of viral beauty products and the importance of cautious consumer behavior and thorough research before using them.
