The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Convenes Scientific Advisory Panel to Enhance Nighttime Skin Care Research
The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) recently held a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) Meeting at its China Innovation Labs in Shanghai, focusing on the science of night-mediated skin recovery. This event gathered external scientists and dermatologists from across Asia, as well as ELC’s own researchers, to discuss recent research findings on the connections between sleep, circadian rhythms, and skin recovery. Jane Anders, ELC’s Senior Vice President, highlighted the importance of translating these scientific insights into innovative skincare solutions for consumers worldwide.
The meeting emphasized the significant changes in skin physiology during sleep, controlled by internal circadian clocks, and the growing importance of nighttime skincare in consumer routines. ELC has been a leader in overnight skin repair for over 40 years, with research leading to the development of products like Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment and La Mer’s Rejuvenating Night Cream. Nadine Pernodet, ELC’s Senior Vice President of Bioscience, expressed that understanding nighttime biological processes has been a long-standing mission, aiding in the creation of innovative skincare technologies.
Distinguished scientists at the SAB shared insights into sleep’s impact on health and skin aging, discussing ways to enhance the efficacy of cosmetic procedures and nighttime skincare products. Professor Yung Hou Wong from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, an SAB member, emphasized the importance of translating nighttime science into effective skincare solutions.
ELC is committed to advancing scientific understanding and is deeply integrated into the scientific community, presenting at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The company is also devoted to promoting women in STEM, as evidenced by the leadership of women in all its R&D and innovation labs globally.
