Estée Lauder’s La Mer Skin Care Study Published in Scientific Journal

MELVILLE, NY – February 19, 2025 – A recent study led by La Mer and The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has been published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology. It examines the benefits of La Mer’s Macrocystis pyrifera ferment containing serum (MPF-Serum) in enhancing the skin barrier and aiding recovery after dermatological procedures. Authored by ELC scientists including Dr. Uma Santhanam, Dr. Claude Saliou, and Dr. Jaime Emmetsberger, along with external researchers, the study shows MPF-Serum’s significant improvement in skin hydration and barrier strength over eight weeks, particularly after procedures like glycolic acid peels and non-ablative laser treatments. MPF-Serum is proposed as a potential alternative to conventional post-procedure ointments.

ELC emphasizes its commitment to scientific innovation and women’s advancement in STEM, with all global R&D labs led by women and over half of its technical staff being female.
