Estée Lauder Companies Inc. Convenes Scientific Advisory Board to Enhance Nighttime Skincare Science

The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) recently hosted a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meeting focusing on the science of night and its impact on skin recovery at its China Innovation Labs in Shanghai. The event brought together leading scientists and dermatologists from the Asia region and ELC researchers to explore the latest research on sleep, circadian rhythms, and skin recovery. The discussions aimed to integrate these findings into product development to enhance skincare innovations.

Jane Anders, ELC Senior Vice President for Asia Innovation, emphasized the importance of understanding consumers’ needs, particularly in China, and the potential to extend these learnings globally. The emphasis was on how skin undergoes significant changes during sleep, influenced by circadian rhythms, making nighttime skincare a crucial market segment. ELC’s dedication to this area is evident in over 40 years of research, leading to products like Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair and La Mer’s Rejuvenating Night Cream.

The meeting featured a diverse group of scientists specializing in sleep science, circadian rhythm, and dermatology. The discussions also explored enhancing cosmetic procedures through effective nighttime skincare. Professor Yung Hou Wong highlighted the significance of understanding nighttime biological processes for advancing skin health.

Through such collaborative efforts, ELC aims to continue pioneering breakthroughs in skincare, aligning with its commitment to scientific innovation and advancing the role of women in STEM disciplines. As a leader in luxury and prestige beauty, ELC operates globally, with a diverse brand portfolio sold in approximately 150 countries.
