SimplyGo to Support Amex Cards From 15th May 2025 – Sethisfy
In a joint statement released by Land Transport Authority and American Express, both companies have announced that Amex cards will soon be supported by SimplyGo from 15th May 2025 onwards. With this, Amex cardholders can use their cards — issued by American Express or its partners worldwide — across Singapore’s public transportation network.

No registration required, use SimplyGo app to track rides
As it has been with Mastercard and Visa cards, there is no registration required to use Amex cards for SimplyGo. Simply tap your physical card or use smartphone wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay to make payment at the payment terminals of trains and buses.
The rides can be tracked with the SimplyGo app. Transit fares are accumulated daily and posted 3 days after the date of transaction.
On a tangential note, Apple Pay Express Transit Card feature is still missing in action (and has been for years). The feature allows you to tap your iPhone or Apple Watch without having to press any buttons to trigger Apple Pay. Despite iOS allowing you to select a card for it, Express Transit does not work with SimplyGo.
Boo: no rewards
I have confirmed with an American Express spokesperson that SimplyGo transactions will not earn rewards with American Express cards. This should not affect American Express cards issued by banks (e.g. UOB Absolute or DBS yuu Amex) as long as they do not exclude SimplyGo transactions.
Also, there hasn’t been any indication of any launch promo, but I have contacted American Express to see if there’d be any to mark the occasion. Stay subscribed for updates.
