Researchers in a recent study have highlighted the potential of Lavandula angustifolia, commonly known as lavender, as a natural preservative in cosmetic formulations. As EU regulations prompt formulators to avoid certain synthetic ingredients, the combination of lavender hydrosol and essential oil has shown promise in maintaining low microbial contamination in cosmetics.
