India’s monsoon set to cover entire country over a week early

MUMBAI – India’s annual monsoon rains are set to cover the entire country within the next three to four days, over a week ahead of their typical schedule, two senior weather officials said on June 26, accelerating planting of summer-sown crops. The monsoon, the lifeblood of India’s nearly US$4 trillion (S$5.1 trillion) economy, delivers almost 70 per cent of the rainfall needed to water farms and replenish aquifers and reservoirs.
