Nominees For Star Awards 2025 & How You Can Win A BYD Car By Voting
First things first: Mediacorp’s biggest hit of 2025 so far, Emerald Hill, is not nominated in any category for Star Awards 2025.
The reason? The show’s release date falls outside the official eligibility period (Jan 1 2024 – Dec 31 2024) for this year’s awards and will only be considered for nomination at next year’s Star Awards.
Now that that’s clarified… This year’s Star Awards, to be held at The Theatre at Mediacorp on July 6, marks the show’s 30th anniversary since the inaugural ceremony in 1994.
With 18 awards presented across different categories, several tweaks and updates have been made to this year’s nomination rules.
For starters, artistes nominated for the performance awards, for example, Best Actor and Actress, and with over five years of experience, will also qualify for the Top 10 Most Popular Artiste awards
Similarly, artistes who win the Most Popular Rising Star award thrice will automatically be promoted to the Top 10 Most Popular list.
Repeat nominations for Best Rising Star are now allowed if the artiste has under five years’ experience and hasn’t won an award yet.
Artistes also qualify by starring as a lead or main host in a series (with at least two episodes) or accumulating a total of at least 13 episodes across different roles, including telemovies and countdown shows.
Voting for the Top 10 Most Popular Artistes, Most Popular Rising Star, and Best Theme Song kicks off today.
Fans can cast their votes here and support their favourites before the polls close on July 6.
Like last year, Star Awards 2025 will start at 330pm with a Backstage LIVE commentary marathon on mewatch or Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel
Playing fashion police at home can actually mean something
Viewers can now play a bigger role as the artistes walk the red carpet. Apart from just giving their critiques at home, this year, they will be able to vote for the Best Dressed via on-screen interactive polls.
Vote and win a BYD car. Yes, for real.
For the first time, voting comes with a reward.
Cast your vote in the BYD Favourite Character categories and you could win and drive home a BYD Sealion 7 valued at S$94,888.
Voting will run from May 26 to June 15.
Past All-Time Favourite Award winners to reunite on stage
With Yvonne Lim and Pornsak getting inducted into the All-Time Favourite Artiste list, the group now has 30 faces. 30? Just in time for the 30th anniversary of the Star Awards, we guess.
Mediacorp has invited the past recipients of the award — only stars who have won the Top 10 Most Popular category 10 times have the award — for an on-stage reunion.
At press time, it is not confirmed who will be showing up but previous winners include Zoe Tay, Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, Li Nanxing, Jeanette Aw, and Rui En.
No Gala Night this year… but the After-Party is back
For the past two years, there was a Gala Night to celebrate the winners of the technical awards as well as Best Director, Best Drama Serial, and Best Entertainment Programme, as a precursor to the main show.
This year, the Post-Show Party is making its return, the first time since 2019.
Look out for excited winners and backstage reactions during this 30-minute segment.
Now, who doesn’t love a good party?
