‘A pioneering figure’: Former NUS law school dean Thio Su Mien dies at 86

Former NUS law dean Thio Su Mien dies at 86

SINGAPORE – Former National University of Singapore (NUS) law dean Thio Su Mien died at the age of 86 on the morning of June 30. Dr Thio died from acute myeloid leukaemia, which she was diagnosed with in early May. She was the first woman dean of the NUS law faculty, holding the post from 1968 to 1971. First RTS Link train unveiled; passenger service between Singapore and Johor set for December 2026

The first train for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link was officially unveiled on 30 June 2025. The cross-border light rail project is now approximately 56 per cent complete, with full operations scheduled to commence by December 2026. The four-kilometre RTS Link is designed to connect Woodlands North Station in Singapore to Bukit Chagar Station in Johor Bahru.
